The short version: PlateCalm is a place to keep your own records. It isn't medical care, and your subscription is managed by Apple.
What PlateCalm is
PlateCalm is a personal logging tool. It records what you enter, counts and arranges it, and produces a summary you can share. That is the whole of what it does.
It is not a medical device and not a source of medical advice. It does not diagnose anything, does not tell you a food caused a symptom, does not recommend a dose, amount or schedule, and does not predict how a change will feel. Any pattern it shows you is a description of entries you made yourself, not a finding about your health. Decisions about your medication belong with you and your clinician.
Reminders in the app are reminders to log, never to dose.
Using the app
You need to be an adult managing your own care. Keep your device passcode on — your log is protected by it, and PlateCalm’s own App Lock sits on top of that rather than replacing it.
You are responsible for what you enter and for anything you choose to share out of the app. Once you send a report through the share sheet, where it goes is up to you and the app you sent it to.
Subscription
PlateCalm is free to use. PlateCalm Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that adds pattern insights, unlimited menu scans, the PDF clinician report, unlimited history and Face ID lock. Monthly and annual plans are offered, and the annual plan includes a free trial.
- Prices are shown in the app and at the App Store checkout in your local currency. Apple takes the payment; we never see your card.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- If you start the free trial and cancel before it ends, you are not charged. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Licence
Your use of PlateCalm is covered by Apple’s Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which applies to apps bought through the App Store: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
Your data
Your entries stay on your device. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to hand over, lose or sell. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Because there is no backup on our side, deleting the app or wiping your data removes it for good. Export a CSV first if you want to keep it.
Changes
If these terms change in a meaningful way we will update the date below, and any change to how subscriptions work will be shown in the app before it applies to you.
Contact
If you feel unwell
PlateCalm is not monitored and cannot respond to anything you log. Contact your clinician or your local emergency service.
